Yellow Fever Card and Oral Polio Vaccinations for Africa & South America- Bangalore Only

Hello Folks, blogging for information for those travelling to Africa and South America.

Oral Polio Vaccination

Who needs it?

Anyone travelling from India to Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan or Pakistan is required to take the oral polio vaccination.

Documents Required: Passport

When to take vaccination: 1 month prior to travel.

Vaccination date and time: Monday to Saturday (Sunday Holiday), Time 10:30 am to 12:30 p.m

Vaccination validity: 1 year

Vaccination Cost: Free

Yellow Fever Vaccination

Who needs it?

Anyone travelling from India to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Mali, Ghana,Ethiopia and some countries of South America are required to be vaccinated against the yellow fever with an international certificate to prove the same.

Documents Required: Passport and Air Tickets

When to take vaccination: 10/15 days prior to travel

Vaccination validity: 10 years.

Vaccination date and time: Monday to Friday, Time 10:30 am to 12:30 p.m (No appointment required from Sept, 2019)

Vaccination Cost: 400 Rupees

Process for OPV(Polio Vaccination)

Call Mrs.Manjula on the shared contact number, tell that you will be visiting the site for polio vaccination.

Reach there by 10:30 onwards, she would ask for Passport to note your details in the registry

You would now receive two drops of oral vaccination, can consume food/liquid after 30 minutes.

You will have to sign the registry and enter the name of the country you are visiting.

Process for Yellow Fever Vaccination

Its operational on all weekdays (Mon-Fri) now, effective from September 2019.

Closed on public holidays, no prior appointment required.

1) Walk-in to the Health Institute around 10:30 AM onward any Prior appointment /Call not at all required now.
2) Fill the Form and deposit the fee Rs 400 at Cash Counter upstairs, staff would guide you if any help required.
3) Display the receipt and submit the form to the Staff at Ground floor, wait for your turn.
4) Vaccination will be done as per the number of people in queue before you.
5) Staff may ask to wait for some time for observation (15 mins approx.)
6) Staff will call out name to Collect vaccination certificate (Yellow Card)

Things to note:

This is not checked when you are travelling from India to destination countries, however you will be asked for a certificate when you are at the destination country immigration or return to India.

Always visit the destination counties embassy site for visa mandatory requirements.

PHI is only authorized centre in Bangalore to issue the Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate by Govt. of India.

I heard other private hospitals do the same for Rs.5000 etc, however they are not certified, kindly avoid.
